He will utilize his diverse experience and years of public sector and economic development work to provide counsel on administrative and regulatory matters or issues that require interfacing with the New York State or Federal government.
"I chose to join Hancock Estabrook because of its focus on serving businesses and individuals from Upstate New York with an extremely talented and diverse group of lawyers, whom I find to be both engaging and friendly," said Mr. Arcuri, when asked about his decision to join the Firm. "Hancock Estabrook offers me the perfect platform to transition from the public sector back into the practice of law with an excellent Firm where I can continue to serve my individual and business associates."
Mr. Arcuri was a member of Congress for New York’s 24th Congressional District from 2007 to 2010. While in Congress, he served as a member of the influential Rules Committee. During his tenure, Mr. Arcuri was named the most moderate "Centrist" member of the House of Representatives by the National Journal. He was also named "2009 Legislator of the Year" by the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association for sponsoring legislation to install fire safety equipment in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Mr. Arcuri was selected as "Guardian of Small Business" by the National Federation of Small Businesses for his role in enacting 16 separate small business tax cuts.
"With his strong record of achievements benefiting Upstate New York, Michael is well positioned to provide strategic legal advice to our clients and we are confident that he will serve them well, particularly those with key interests in Albany and Washington, D.C.," said Janet D. Callahan, managing partner, Hancock Estabrook, LLP.
Prior to his House membership, Mr. Arcuri was the longest serving District Attorney in Oneida County history, where he helped to create the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center. He was also president of the New York State District Attorney’s Association.
