Michael J. Sciotti Receives New York State Bar Association 2008 Pro Bono Service Award
Syracuse, New York – Hancock Estabrook, LLP, is pleased to announce that Michael J. Sciotti, Firm Partner, has been awarded the New York State Bar Association's prestigious President's Pro Bono Service Award for attorneys in the Fifth Judicial District.The New York State Bar Association President's Pro Bono Service Award is presented to attorneys who have rendered extraordinary pro bono service. It was established to recognize and thank the individuals who provide such service and to convey to the profession and the public the importance of pro bono service in achieving equal access to justice. Mr. Sciotti is the leader of the Labor & Employment Practice Group and a member of the Health Care and Intellectual Property Practice Groups. He holds a law degree and a LL.M. from the Syracuse University College of Law and a bachelor of science from Rochester Institute of Technology. Mr. Sciotti received the 2005 Onondaga County Bar Association Distinguished Pro Bono Award in recognition of the legal counsel he provided to those who were unable to afford it. He has spoken at numerous seminars and authored many articles on a wide variety of labor and employment topics, and is a mediator, arbitrator and early neutral evaluator for the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He is admitted to practice in New York and Washington D.C.
