Professional Development and Support
New lawyers usually begin their legal careers with their futures somewhat uncharted. For that reason, we encourage our new attorneys to explore the varied professional opportunities the Firm offers to help them develop a career path. New associates are not assigned to a department immediately upon joining the Firm. During their first year, they have a chance to explore the full spectrum of our legal practice and the variety of complex matters handled by the Firm's attorneys. At the end of their transition year, we assign our associates to a department. We give great weight to the interests and skills of our new attorneys in making assignments, as well as taking our staffing needs into account.
We take pride in providing our associates with hands-on experience. Additionally, we offer in-house and outside legal and non-legal training opportunities that are invaluable to develop and sharpen our new attorneys' skills. As an accredited Continuing Legal Education (CLE) provider, we offer periodic seminars on cutting-edge practice issues, professional responsibility, business development, legal research and writing, document preparation and drafting, and firm administration.
All new attorneys are attentive to their career progression. For that reason, we provide our new attorneys with guidance from experienced attorneys who have distinguished themselves as top practitioners in their fields. Each new lawyer is also assigned a supervising attorney and an associate mentor to assist them with the first few years of practice. Communication is a central focus at our Firm and is key to a successful career. All of our attorneys, from newest associate to most senior partner, participate in an ongoing review process aimed at maximizing each individual's progress toward attaining full professional potential.
We support our attorneys' practices with cutting-edge technology. Our technology infrastructure, inside and outside the office, is a reflection of the fact that the practice of law is on the move. We have a fully integrated computer system with a local area network that links our attorneys and support staff with a central document depository. We offer many on-line and in-house resources, such as:
- Wireless handheld e-mail/telephone units
- Pacer (public Access to federal court electronic records)
- CourtLink (Access to both state and federal court records)
- Dun & Bradstreet
